US Elections 2024 live updates: The highly anticipated 2024 US Presidential Election is underway, with Republican nominee Donald Trump facing off against Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris.

'We will defeat the corrupt system in Washington,' says Donald Trump

"To every citizen across this land, I am asking for the honour of your vote. As your president, I will fight for you every single day with every breath in my body. Together, we will save this great country that we love; we will defeat the corrupt system in Washington," said Trump.

He also said on X (formerly Twitter), My message to Americans tonight is very simple: we do not have to live this way... We do not have to settle for weakness, incompetence, decline, and decay. With your vote tomorrow, we can fix every single problem our country faces...

On the other hand, Kamala Haris on her Twitter said, I’m asking for your vote because, as president, I will get up every day and fight for the American people.

However, during his recent visit to Australia, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar issued a comment regarding the US-India relationship after the 2024 elections.

He said, " We have seen steady progress in our relationship with the US over the last 5 presidencies, including an earlier Trump presidency. So, when we look at the American election, we are very confident that whatever the verdict, our relationship with the US will only grow".

Jaishankar expressed confidence that the bilateral relationship will only strengthen, citing the shared values and interests between the two nations. He also highlighted the importance of the QUAD grouping, which comprises India, Australia, Japan, and the US.
